Heavy rain and flood in Pakistan

The 2010 Pakistan floods began in July 2010 after record heavy monsoon rains. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Sindh province of Pakistan was worst affected. At least 2000 people died, thousands were rendered homeless, and more than twenty million people were affected. Estimates from rescue-service-officials suggest the death-toll may reach 3,000 victims. According to a recent estimate of the United Nations, the number of people suffering from these massive floods in Pakistan exceeds 20 million, which is more than the combined total of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, the 2005 Kashmir earthquake and the 2010 Haiti earthquake. Officials have warned that the death-toll could rise as many towns and villages are not accessible and communications have been disrupted. In some areas, the water-level was 5.5 m (18 ft) high and residents were seen on roof-tops waiting for aid to arrive. The disaster will also do major harm to struggling Pakistani economy due to extensive damage to infrastructure and crops.

The floods were caused by monsoon rains, which were forecast to continue into early August and were described as the worst in the last 80 years. People lost their everything including homes, livestock, crops that caused huge damage to infrastructure and economy of Pakistan.

Aim4Faith Ministries have visited the areas and accessed the needs of people and met many affected families and took their sad views on the current disaster:

Muhammad Qadir said, "The government has badly failed to take pre-flood steps to avoid mass level devastation. I have lost my house and livestock".
Rahana Bibi, said, "Two new born babies were died for server rains as there was no shelter and medical aid. There is no food and water".
Sharifian Bibi an elderly woman said, "The ministers have been just making helicopter visits, however no relief work has been started. People are starved. If immediate help will not be provided there will be huge loss of lives and livestock".
